Hello to all Three Sisters Medicinals patients,
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the summer.
I’m writing to share an update on my current status and outlook for returning to the clinic. As many of you know, I recently experienced a serious wrist injury that required surgery to repair multiple fractures. This is not a simple fracture, and it requires a careful, structured healing process to ensure a full and lasting recovery.
Healing well is essential not only for my own health but also to ensure that when I return to practice, I can continue to provide you with the highest quality care for the long term. While I would love to jump back in fully, my body (and the wisdom of this process) is teaching me to take this slowly and seriously. (Life is chock-full of lessons, eh?!)
As part of this process, I am restructuring how I will be offering services going forward. When I return, it will not look the same as it has in the past. My practice will transition into a phased, modified schedule with new offerings and adjustments that align with my healing body, sustainable rhythms, and continued dedication to providing you with the best care possible.
I am currently working with my doctors and physical therapist to map out what this will look like, and I will communicate clear next steps once I am ready. I appreciate your patience, understanding, and kindness as I honor this healing process.
If you would like to continue working together once I begin to reopen, please know that I will prioritize those who have already been scheduled for the next few months as I move into this next phase. I will share updates as soon as I am ready to begin scheduling again and will clearly outline what the new structure and options will be at that time.
For those of you seeking acupuncture in the meantime, I wanted to share a couple of local options:
✨ Louise 💖 at Wellspring Holistic is a wonderful practitioner and someone I trust to care for you with skill and warmth if you need ongoing acupuncture support while I am healing.

✨ I am also in conversation with David Gaglione, a well-respected local acupuncturist who has recently retired (a lot of you know him already), about the possibility of doing some fill-in work at my office or seeing patients here during this interim period. We are still exploring how this might look, but if it comes together, it could provide a seamless option for you to continue care in the same space you’re used to. I will keep you posted as these discussions evolve.
Thank you for your ongoing support, your understanding, and for being part of this community we have built together.
With care and gratitude,
Kelly

My Healing Journey
A Visual Glimpse into My Healing Journey
For those who are curious, I wanted to share a few photos from this chapter of my healing process — from the hospital to home, and the many small steps in between.
Some of the images include medical details like X-rays and surgical healing, which may be a bit sensitive for some. If you'd prefer to skip those, feel free to scroll past or stop here. Otherwise, I invite you to witness the journey with me — not just the clinical details, but what it’s been like to navigate all of this from my couch, my kitchen, and everything in between.
Thank you for being part of my healing community.
🦴 The Beginning of the Journey
This was my initial X-ray — showing a distal radius fracture with ulnar styloid involvement. The bones had shifted significantly out of place, making surgery necessary to realign and stabilize the wrist. I remember feeling shock, pain, and a deep knowing that this would be a long road — but also a sacred one.
📸 Pre-Surgery Calm
Taking a deep breath and leaning into trust. This was taken just before being wheeled into surgery.
🖼️ The Hardware Holding Me Together
These are post-surgical X-rays of the titanium plate and screws stabilizing my distal radius and wrist bones. An incredible reminder of what modern medicine can do.
⚠️ Surgical Healing – Graphic Warning
The next image shows my surgical incision and stitches. If you’re sensitive to medical visuals, feel free to skip to the next section.
One week post-op. Swelling and bruising still present, but healing is underway.
🌿 Healing Tools: Body, Nature, and Nourishment Working Together
Recovery for me isn’t just about one approach — it’s a full-spectrum embrace of both natural and nutritional support.
Internal Support: I’m using a core lineup of supplements including Vitamin C, magnesium, D3/K2, and bone-building formulas to help with mineralization, inflammation, and nerve repair. Plus: Arnica montana and Symphytum officinale (comfrey) for trauma, bruising, and bone support — these tiny pellets carry big power.
Topical & Herbal Remedies: Arnica gel, handmade comfrey salve, and classic Chinese trauma liniments like Dit Da Jow and Bone Water are part of my daily care ritual to reduce swelling, support tissue regeneration, and bring in that plant-based magic.
Herbal Teas & Smoothies: I rotate between herbal infusions (like calendula, comfrey, horsetail, and du zhong) and collagen-rich smoothies made with bone broth protein and berries to feed my body from within.
These tools aren’t just medicine — they’re a reminder that I’m actively participating in my own healing, with the Earth as my ally.
💡 Light Therapy at Home
Using red and near-infrared light daily to reduce inflammation, support circulation, and promote bone and tissue regeneration.
🩹 Not My First Rodeo
These photos are from two previous arm/wrist injuries — one as a kid, feeding ducks with my arm in a cast, and one as an adult, bundled up in slings and scarves.
I’ve been through this kind of healing before, but never quite like this. This current injury has been more complex and demanding than anything prior — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
And yet… maybe the body breaks open just wide enough to let more light in.
🛋️ Deep Rest & Soft Companionship
This healing time has brought me something I didn’t know I needed so badly: real rest. Not just sleeping, but the kind of deep pause that lets your nervous system exhale.
I often tell my patients how important rest and balance are — but truthfully, I’ve had a hard time giving myself that same permission. This injury has brought me face to face with how much I’ve been holding, and how powerful it is to slow down and let myself be held instead.
Chicky has been by my side every step of the way, modeling rest like a little master teacher. 🐾
I’m remembering what it feels like to be still — and how vital that is for real healing.
✨ Final Words
Thank you for allowing me to share this part of my journey with you. I hope that in some small way it reminds you that healing is rarely linear, often uncomfortable, and always a sacred act of resilience.
I’m deeply grateful for your patience and your presence as I move through this process and slowly return to work — not quite the same, but maybe more whole.
